Head experimentation and character development

Through studying both Art and Moving Image for the last four years, and by taking part in various courses outside of school with the BFI and Screenworks, I have worked on lots of projects, both with teams and by myself, in film and through art, but my favourite thing in all of this is making things in 3d.

I love working with my hands, working with a wide variety of materials and creating and designing anything I can think of. I’ve made a couple of stop motion films which allowed me to do all of this: it gave me the opportunity to use clay, to create characters, textiles for clothes and sets, creating armatures with wire, creating sets with intricate details and cool atmospheres in all sorts of materials. It has given me a platform to create and show my imagination while bringing it to life, and has helped me realise I want to be a maker and not an animator!

Although I have worked with lots of mediums, I still want to try more. I would like to experiment with different materials such as woodworking and silversmithing, though I’ve also really enjoyed working a lot with cardboard recently - everyone knows not to throw out good materials in our house! I’m hoping that this course will help me to expand my skills and become a better, more versatile artist and maker.

This course seems incredible. It sounds like it brings together all my favourite parts of craft and design while giving students the space to grow and explore new materials and approaches.

Thank you for having a look at my portfolio.
